Figure 1: Getting real in a world full of distractions.

I was paying ChatGPT subscription and Midjourney. I stopped them, since the results I get freely from Bing has the same potential to be honest. I am even considering other free open-source alternatives. But I don’t think you can get the same consistent results as hiring a real artist or even a beginner. In the other hand, I read the book of getting-real from the 37Signals the creators of Basecamp, and I am really getting it real this time. One of the core tips from their book is “Hire Less and Hire Later.

When getting real with things, you have to make them work and fight yourself to linger on things like I want it perfect, I will start it tomorrow, I am not ready yet and stuff like that. Just start working and learn while doing what you think you live for. This project for example was on my head for more than two years. I even wrote a respectful number of journals and articles but kept them in Google drive. They never saw the light. At a certain point, I reordered videos of my doing my workouts with my brother who was new to moving. Literally, for some reason, he was never able to do a pushup?! I showed him how and trained him until he could do thirty pushups without resting. It was a great thing to see someone progress and I kept those videos and pictures with the hope of releasing something or starting something out of it.

One day, I saw an announcement for MIT MENA entrepreneurs competition or something like that. I made some design for the applications and fill the form with all the ideas I have about it and submitted the it. I never heard of that competition after. I was always like this:

  • I think about something, usually comes in a form of Oooh!
  • I develop it in my head.
  • I keep developing it and living a dream of it succeeding to the point I feel no motivation to do the thing anymore.
  • After I get over the feeling of success and fall to the bottom of abyss. I start writing the idea down, usually in Google drive.
  • Then, it dies from my head.

The few ideas, that keeps appearing daily are the ones I start getting them real. This project is one of them. I can’t live without working out. When I work out, I have to track my progress and add some comments. I learned from using different apps, that sometimes, the blue or green streaks’ points are meaningless when you get disturbed by an event. Or when you burn yourself out. In these moments you have to see pictures of yourself when you started and how you changed along. It doesn’t have to be the full history, but at least the start and the end or in between or a point when you really felt enjoyment and the sense of achievement. Most apps don’t offer this even paid ones like Freeletics. Actually, I really considered starting this while using Freeletics with a paid subscription. I find the other one Fitify more productive in away, even though the workouts in Freeletics are studied or engineered much better.

Sugar and Meals

I am writing this, after taking a Pizza made at home, following it with some sweets from outside. Before that with almost an hour, I had some fried egges mixed with hashed tuna and some tomatoes with my wife. Before that, I didn’t have a thing since lunch where I ate some lentils soup with bread. Before lunch, I had my usual cup of coffee.

Tomorrow, is a fasting day, and she is going to fast with me, that’s the reason for the pizza.

Following

Keeping the aptitude of moving forward not matter what happens. Not using ChatGPT to generate my cover images anymore.
